Side story: test drove a CX5 with my wife last week and the sales people WOULD NOT SHUTUP! On and on about technical stuff that:

A. Outside of oppo no one cares about

B. Was wrong half the time.

One of the guys came with us on our test drive (cmon, give me a break) and wouldn’t shut up about sky active technology and how it was SO amazing and SO much better than everyone else that even Toyota is paying Mazda to use it in some of their cars. To which I finally spoke up and said.

Actually, Toyota just re-bodies the Mazda 2 as a Toyota because they needed a small car for their lineup and they couldn’t be bothered to make their own, so they partnered with Mazda...but the Mazda 3 hybrid DOES uses Toyota powertrains if that’s what you mean.

And he was quiet...for all of 6 seconds.

pretty much. We went to the dealer and they had 1...sportwagen on the lot and it was a TDI they couldn’t sell. I guess we have to wait.

Toyota does make two subcompact sedans, the Vios and Etios, they are both worse than a Yaris hatch so i’m guessing that is why they went to Mazda for the north american market.
